You can always bring your own boat or jet skis if you wish and launch in Lake Linden and keep at the 125 ft dock which can accommodate up to approx an 18ft boat since water is fairly shallow. There is a 16ft Grumman canoe/paddles available, with four adult life jackets, as well as two sea kayaks for your enjoyment free of charge-use at your own risk. 30 AMP RV service is also available at 25.00 a day if you have visitors needing to stay that have their own rig. Private agate/rock hounding for 30.00 per person can be arranged, minimum two people required. Children 10 and under free. The loft rental area contains three bedrooms, three baths with tiled walk in showers and a sauna. It provides beds to sleep sixteen, perfect for a family reunion or a large group. It also includes a full kitchen, surround sound system, as well as a washer and dryer. The well-designed kitchen along with an outside charcoal grill makes cooking easy for those who want to eat in rather than go out. All pots, pans, dishes, towels and sheets are provided. You only need to bring your consumable goods! Many antique items used in the loft have been obtained from our local area. Interior building materials were reclaimed from old barns and buildings. The corrugated metal roofing lining the interior ceiling and some walls came from the Ford wood plant in Pequaming. (This plant provided local wood for the construction of the Ford Model T and A cars built in the 1920 and 30's). Reclaimed hardwood’ over 100 years old was used for the flooring. Interior walls are also finished with reclaimed wood. ? A lot of local history has been used in the decoration of this rental property. Some items came from the Atlas Powder plant formerly located on the 1400 acres behind the property. There are also many logging tools, some over 100 years old. All of this adds up to a large comfortable space with a very cozy feeling.

A one of a kind built in 1895, historic home. Elevated (hillside) with beautiful woodwork, wood floors, tall ceilings, antique furnishings yet modern kitchen and bath. Private dining room, parlor. Full 3 stories ; main floor living, kitchen, dining; 2nd floor 2 bedrooms and sitting room, and bath, 3rd floor large expansive renovated attic with separate bedroom and sitting area. This is a quiet home with radiator heat, up to date appliances, beautiful views from the enclosed front porch. There is a large unfinished basement with laundry facility, and covered entrance from the basement to the garage. Due to the multiple levels, the house has a lot of staircases to climb so may not be appropriate for those who cannot manage stairs. The 1 bathroom is very large; has a 6 ft. claw foot tub, and separate shower. We do daily snow removal (after 10 am) and we allow parking in the garage (at your own risk). We make exit and entry simple; through the garage via keypad into a door/tunnel into the basement. We are strict on rules to respect the integrity of the floors and furnishings; no shoes on once inside the home (anything above the basement). We are 5 minutes from downtown Hancock, 5 minutes across the bridge to MTU, 5 minutes to Mt. Ripley. Please be respectful of furnishings (many breakables, and fragile items).

The lake bottom is sand and ranges from zero to 4 feet in depth near the dock. A rock fire ring near the lake is a perfect way to spend the evening with friends by the fire, roasting marshmallows. We have a kayak and two new bikes in the basement that you are free to use to explore the lake, or the miles long waterfront trail from MTU through Chassell. Due to the heavy rains in July of 2018, parts of the trail are closed to the north, but it is open to Chassell. Portage Lake is a great fishing lake because it is open to Superior, with Walleye, Pike, Bass and much more. The sauna is perfect for summer use, but must be winterized in the fall, October 15th through May 1st.
